Scrappin' Saturday XX

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks.

Picking up from where I left off with this series, this is my second page of tatting. The upper right design is from Glass Christmas Balls by JoAnn Stearns. It is the top half of design #4. After that, I went with a few motifs and edgings so the ornaments would be done in time for Christmas. I used satin covered balls from Handy Hands and straight pins to hold the pieces on. The square medallion on the green ball in the center is a pattern I got from freepatterns.com. They credit it as being from Old Time Crochet Magazine, Summer 1998. The pattern for the green ball on the middle left is from Handy Hands Fall 2004 newsletter. The upper left ornament has the Trefoil Edging from the Big Book of Tatting . I'm not sure why I included the ornament in the middle on the right side - that was made with my Mom's embroidery machine. The two bottom pictures are of some other ornaments I've tatted. The green one is from the Big Book of Tatting, Christmas Tree Motif. I used DMC #5 pearl cotton in a medium dark green color. The round motif is from Tatting for Today, Motif #25.

How I Made It

Background:  Decorative Scrapbook Paper by Paper Pizazz. "Holly on Green" HOTP-20222
Borders: Cream colored cardstock and Spellbinders Grand 12" Classic Lace Border.
Photos: The photos were cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Ovals Die Template , and were mounted on cardstock shaped with Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Ovals Die Template .
Journaling: Sizzix Tags, Scallop Combo #2, with bits of thread through the holes. 
Other Embellishment: Snowflakes were punched with a Hyglo 6-in-1 craft punch. I used glitter glue to add sparkle, and scattered them around the page.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - peek into the pages of my scrapbooks. 

Tatting Page: This is the first of several pages of tatting projects. Details are below the picture. 

Background: I used one of the sheets that came with the scrapbook.  
Photos: The photos were cropped to the desired size, then the edges were rounded.  
Die Cuts: The die cuts on this page were made using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One and Labels Two.
   
Other Embellishments: I traced both a tatting shuttle and a tatting needle using a sharpie pen. I used the computer to journal a paragraph about tatting, and the photos on the page, printed it onto a decorative paper, and used the cuttlebug with Labels Two to get the desired shape. I also took several of my tatted 'scraps' and glued them onto the page.
Projects Pictured: Medallions The pattern for the square one is no longer available from the site I downloaded it from. If anyone knows where to find it, leave a comment so I can update this post. The other medallion is actually a failed attempt of the Pearl Accent Earrings from the Big Book of Tatting. I blogged about the bookmarks here and here. They are the same pattern, just with different ribbons. The pattern is Ribbon and Lace Bookmark from the Big Book of Tatting.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - come take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks. This page is devoted to the two beach bag totes that I've made. One for myself, and one for my Grandma.

The Details

Paper: The paper is a 12x12 sheet of Decorative Scrapbook Paper.  
Photos: The photos were cropped square and the corners rounded with a punch.  
Journaling: The journaling was written by hand and consists of the pattern title and some notes about making the pattern.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks, and learn how I made them. This page is a sort of collage of sewing projects. I know that the phrase 'a stitch in time saves nine' applies more to mending, but I couldn't think of anything else to put in the blank space.

Background Paper: The white paper that came preloaded in the scrapbook. In the lower left corner, is a piece from the DCWV 8x8" Luxury Stack. It worked nicely to separate the hangers from the other projects.
Letters: The letters are from the Cuttlebug Die Set Olivia.
Photos: For the hangers, I simply cropped them by hand. The doll dress in the upper left corner was closely cropped, then I rounded the corners. The picture in the upper right corner was cropped using Nestabilities Spellbinders Labels One.
Die Cuts: The upper right photo was double matted with Nestabilities Spellbinders Labels One. The upper left photo was matted using Nestabilities Spellbinders Labels Two. For the journaling I used Nestabilities Classic Ovals Small, Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Ovals Large, and Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Paisley.

Background Paper: Solid yellow, from one of the pastel packs.
Border: The border was punched using Fiskars Embossing Border Punch Dandy Doodles
Letters: The first letter came from a chipboard assortment. The rest of the letters were made using the Cuttlebug Red Tag Sale Alphabet Die Set
Photos: The photos were cropped to the size I wanted, then I rounded the corners.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks, and learn how I made them.

This is part of a two page spread of things I've made for my 18" doll.
Background Paper: A solid colored sheet of paper.
Border:I used Spellbinders Borderablilities Classic Lace Border.
Letters: The letters spell out my doll's name, Katrina. The first letter is a chipboard letter, and the rest are from different colors of paper using the Red Tag Sale Alphabet set by Cuttlebug.
Photos: The photos were cropped to the size I wanted, then I used Fiskars 4-in-1 Corner Punch, Glory on the corners. The punch embosses as well as cuts the corners. The embossing doesn't really show up, but I mostly wanted it to shape the corners.
Die Cuts: For my journals, I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Two. I cut the same shape out of two separate papers, then glued them down with one on it's side, and one right side up.
Projects Pictured: Doll Clothes (Some of the pictures are in the Flickr Slideshow at the end of the post.) Also, the outfit Mom made for Katrina.

Paper: A sheet of purple paper. I think it came in a pack with a scrapbook.
Photos: For the photos of things in frames, I cropped as close to the frame as possible. I did the same thing for the coaster pictures. The remaining photo was simply cropped as small as possible.
Die Cuts: I used all three of the dies in the Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks, and learn how I made them.

This is another page of knitted projects.
Background Paper: "Purple Sponged" by Paper Pizazz. This paper is probably discontinued, but here's the code for it. HOTP-20070
Photos: The oval picture was cropped using Creative Memories Custom Cutting System. The picture of the teddy bear was cropped using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Two. The remaining photos were cropped square to the size I wanted, then I used a corner rounder on them.
Die Cuts: The die cuts (journals) were cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels One. I also used Sizzix Tags, Scallop Combo #2. It appears to be discontinued - I can't even find it on the Sizzix website.
Other: I used some yarn I had on hand to make little tassels for the tags.

Welcome to Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into the pages of my scrapbooks, and learn how I made them.

Background Paper: I used the paper that came in the scrapbook sleeves.
Photos: The glove-mitt photos were cropped to the size I wanted, and the corners rounded. The remainder of the photos were cropped using  Creative Memories Custom Cutting System Oval. I also used the CM system to cut backgrounds of solid colored paper for the sock pictures.
Die Cuts: The paisley die cuts were made with Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Paisley. I used the paisleys to write information about the patterns, where to find the pattern, and the date completed.
Other: The rectangle above the Mary Jane Socks came with a package of journaling die cuts.
I wanted the glove-mitts to be on their own, and not just jumbled in with the rest of the pictures. To accomplish this, I used  a sheet from the 8x8 DCWV Luxury Stack, rounded the corners, and pasted it in the bottom left corner of my page. Both the pictures fit nicely on the sheet, and it gave me the effect I wanted.

Scrappin' Saturday - take a peek into my scrapbook pages, and read about how I made them!

Background Paper: The background paper is a plain brown paper.
Photos:I only wanted this to take up one page, and had a difficult time deciding how to arrange it. I finally chose the hats I liked best, and that looked different from each other and carefully cut around them. (Some of the hats were nearly identical)
Die Cuts: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Seven. The largest label is cut out of a DSP with small pastel hearts on it. I used it to journal about the project. The two smaller ones are on solid colored paper and have information about the hat patterns I used.
Project Pictured: The 300 hat project.

Scrappin' Saturday IX

This week we're going back a few pages to my cross stitch pages. There is a lot of empty space because the rest of the cross stitches that I want pictures of on these pages aren't framed yet.

Paper - I used the pages supplied with the scrapbook.
Border - The capital X's from the Cuttlebug Alphabet Die set Olivia.I'm not sure this was the best idea I've ever had. It took forever, and gluing them down was difficult, to say the least. However, given that my original idea was to draw the x's by hand, this method was probably better.
Photos - I used a combination of Creative Memories Oval and Circle cutting systems, and cropping the photos to squares or rectangles and rounding the corners with a punch.
Projects Pictured - Prayer Away, Ruth 1:16, Butterfly towel, Clothespin Angel, and Teapot Afghan. I don't seem to have blogged about the lady/angel in the oval frame. It was a kit, and nearly everything is backstitched - it was very tedious.

Scrappin' Saturday VIII

This page is titled "My Favorite Shawl" for a very good reason - I've made the shawl four times, and currently have a request to make another one!

Background Paper - The background paper is a marbled pale pink color.
Border - The border across the top is from a pack of 12" paper strips.
Letters - The letters are from the Cuttlebug die set "Olivia".
Photos -The two rectangular photos were cropped, and the corners were rounded. The two oval photos were cropped with the Spellbinders Nestabilities die sets Large Classic Ovals, and Small Classic Ovals.
Die-Cuts - The photo labels were made with Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four The larger die that has the pattern and yarn information is from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags set.
Embellishments - The yarn ball and 'Just Knit' stickers came from a sticker pack by K & Company.
Projects Pictured - Blue Triangle Shawl, Purple Shawl, Mom's Shawl, and Another Easy Triangle Shawl.

Scrappin' Saturday is Back!

I finally ordered the pictures I needed for my 'brag book'. It is as finished as it can be. The only pages that are incomplete are the cross stitch pages (because I don't have the other projects that I want to include framed). The other incomplete pages are the 'Sophie' pages. They are up to date, but I left extra room to add new pictures. I will be updating pictures in some of the previous Scrappin' Saturday posts, as well as scheduling the remaining pages to be posted on Saturday afternoons. As each page is published, I will add it to the link list on the Scrappin' Saturday page. Look for a post this evening, and come back on Saturday afternoons for more pages!

Scrappin' Saturday VII

This page is mostly finished, it just needs one more picture. These are the Buddy Bags I made for my cousins two years ago, for Christmas.

 Nothing too fancy here!

Photos: I cropped the photos and some decorative scrapbook paper to the size I wanted and rounded the corners with a corner rounding punch.
Letters: The first 'B' is from a self-adhesive chipboard alphabet set. The rest of the letters are from the Cuttlebug Red Tag Sale die set.

As you can see on the left, I really need to work on my calligraphy. I've done this on several pages, noting where the pattern came from, materials used, and any notes on the pattern.

Scrappin' Saturday VI

Sorry about the lack of posting - I've been very busy lately!
This page is titled 'Gifts for Sis' and has 3 projects that I've made for my sister. In the upper left corner, "George", upper right, "The Poncho", and lower left, the "Crime Scene Scarf".

 
Background & Border: The background is a sheet of brown scrapbook paper. The border is a pre-cut strip from a pack that my Mom got at a homeschooling convention. I used the Fiskars Border Punch, Lace along one edge.  The letters on the border are from the Cuttlebug Red Tag Sale Alphabet Die Set.
 Photo Layers: All of the layers were cut to the size I wanted, and most of the corners were rounded with a punch. The picture of 'George' has gold colored photo corners.
Photo Labels: For the labels under the photos, I used Spellbinders Ribbon Tags Trio.
Present: The present is a Sizzix Sizzlits Die called gift, polka dot. I can't find a link to it anywhere, so it must be retired.
