Another Altered Notebook. These pages were among the hardest to design, mostly because I was trying to figure out how to get 12 photos on 2 pages, and still have space for journaling!

 

• Paper - I used the paper that was included in the scrapbook.
• Borders - I cut a piece of scrapbook paper to the width I wanted, (12") then used Fiskars Border Punch - Hearts on the edge.

 

•  Photos - Cropped, with rounded edges.

• Miscellaneous - I detailed the features of the notebook by writing out what they were, then drawing an arrow to the appropriate photo.

Scrappin' Saturday I

After many years of saying I would not get sucked into the Scrapping Fad, I'm enjoying scrapbooking. My first scrapbook is a sort of "brag book"; it has pictures of many crafts I've completed. It's not finished yet, because some of the projects aren't finished. The scrapbook came with a scrapping kit Mom and I picked up at Sam's. At the time we just wanted to use the supplies for card making. While many of them have been used for cards, some of the leftover pieces have found their way into my scrapbook.

• Background Paper: Vellum printed with various definitions. 
• Letters: Cuttlebug Alphabet, Red Tag Sale; cut out of a paper called Crushed Suede. The paper has since been discontinued, which is very disappointing - I would love a whole stack of it!
• Photos: Cropped and corners rounded.
• Die-Cut: Ribbon Tags Trio by Spellbinders. I cut this out of the cream paper (center) then colored with a dark pen (probably a Sharpie Pen) around the edges.
• Other Decorations: A couple of small quilled flowers in the center, and a folded rose in the corner. The folded rose does keep the page protector from lying flat, but I'm not overly worried about it since it's on the first page and won't be against any other pages that might get warped by it.

New Blogger Features

As some of my fellow bloggers may be aware, Blogger has made some changes lately. With this change to Blogger in Draft, I was able to redesign my garden blog. I can now add pages to my blog, something I've wanted to do for quite some time. Back in December (yes, I'm a bit behind in Blogger news) Blogger added a new way to monetize blogs. Amazon Associates allows me to search Amazon for products I'm writing about, and link to them without having to open a new tab or leave my blog post. The other neat feature is that I can choose to have Amazon turn the text into a link, insert an image that acts as a link, or insert a link and an image. If you purchase the item I blog about, (or any item after following my link) I will earn a small commission.

If you want to keep up with new Blogger features, subscribe to their blogs. They have one for Blogger, and one for Blogger in Draft. If you don't want to add yet another blog to your reader, go to 'edit notifications' (next to the profile picture in your Dashboard) and check the box to receive emails about Blogger features and updates. I will be trying out some other Blogger features, and will do my best to keep you updated about any changes I make to my blog.

Ironically, after writing an entire post about linking to Amazon products, I have not linked to any Amazon product. Not to worry, though, my next post should have a few links. Meanwhile, I added four new altered notebooks/journals to my Etsy shop and apparently forgot to blog about it!

What I've Been Up To

Making Ink! Ok, so that was just today. My ink had turned into sludge, so I made some more, and got my hands stained in the process.

Here's a project from a while back. I couldn't share it because my Sister's Boyfriend was taking his sweet time to propose to her. He finally proposed on September 25. This is a Bride's Altered Notebook. I considered making some for my Etsy shop, but this was a lot of work.



This is a composition Notebook that I covered with scrapping paper. I divided the pages into four tabbed sections. Below - Front and Inside back cover.

The front of each dividing page has a space for notes and the back has an envelope for clippings, receipts and such.

I used a lot of Spellbinders Nestabilities dies.

I knew I had to put monkeys in somewhere - Grace collects monkeys.

I was running out of steam by the time I got to this divider. It has a lot of stickers, and not much else.

Altered Notebook

I've been intending to write a post for a while, but good intentions don't get you anywhere unless you act on them. I made the 'altered notebook' (as opposed to an altered book) below for a friend who's leaving the area. I covered the notebook with postcard scrapbook paper, and added some definition stickers, and some 'stamps'. The stamps are from a sheet of paper and are embossed a little. The top pictures are front and back and the bottom ones are inside front and back.

























I tatted this bookmark for another friend who has left the area. The pattern is from 'The Big Book of Tatting'. Unfortunately, it is out of print.
I'm currently focusing on two projects; a quilled picture for some friends who are getting married, and the Mary Jane Socks from the May issue of Creative Knitting. Pictures coming soon. :)
