For some reason I had bought 4 of the coaster 'blanks', so I decided to design my own coaster:
I'm not entirely happy with it, but for the first time designing a quilled piece, it's pretty good. I also challenged myself to use up the short strips and random shapes that seem to be accumulating at an alarming rate.

That is very pretty! I love quilling! It looks so nice in the coasters! :)
Thanks! I think it's one of the easiest and fastest quilling projects that I've tried.
Isn't it funny how much you tend to accumulate? Your coasters are very nice. Have you tried using the mini marbles in them? They make a wonderful background for the quilling.
Your quilling is lovely. I love the look of quilling.
Gene & Charli - Yes, it is funny. It's so hard to throw anything away since 'I might be able to use it someday' and then it just sits there. I'm not sure if mini marbles would work, since there is just enough room for the quilling to fir into the coaster base.
jon - Thanks!
Could you please tell me from where I can order blank coasters to put my quilling work in? I've looked everywhere online!
Hi, sorry for the slow response - they seem to have disappeared from the internet! I found some at Herrschners, and at Amazon. Try searching for for "acrylic coaster" - the word 'blank' didn't give good results. Here's a link to my Herrschners search results: https://www.herrschners.com/search.do?query=acrylic+coasters
