25 Things I'm Thanful For

This month I decided that I would find at least one thing each day to be thankful for. Some days were easy, and some weren't so easy. Here's my list.

1. The availability of information through internet, newspapers and other sources.
2. The right to vote.
3. Election results, and getting the craft room rug installed.
4. Spending the evening doing crafts with friends.
5. The ability to make dinner for my family, and having enough food.
6. Daylight savings time! Plus an extra hour of sleep!
7. My Church Family.
8. Clothing.
9. The doctor said my knee was ok, I just need to do some exercise to strengthen it.
10. Wednesday night Bible Study, and being able to meet freely.
11. Shrimp for dinner! Also, finding a lot of things for my Operation Christmas Child boxes.
12. Shopping time with Mom. :)
13. Physically able to swim - I'm not very good, but at least I can swim!
14. Good discussion in Sunday School
15. The car I drive passed inspection! Whew!
16. I 'fixed' the problem with my ITunes, 'all by myself'.
17. Having the energy to get a lot of things done today.
18. We started decorating the craft room!
19. I got a haircut! Also, being able to buy food for Thanksgiving dinner.
20. Dad's __'th birthday! Dinner at the China Buffet - Yummy!
21. Operation Christmas Child, and completing 2 boxes.
22. Warmer weather.
23. My chiropractor, and my insurance covering the appointments.
24. Safety while cooking Thanksgiving side dishes - I cut my finger on a blade, but didn't need stitches. Some friends had their first baby today! 
25. Thanksgiving Day. Today I am thankful for a day set aside to be thankful. Too often we focus on our problems, and not on what we have to be thankful for. 

I am making a resolution to write in my calendar every day at least one thing that I am thankful for. What are you thankful for?

Just Keep Sewing, Sewing...

First off, Happy (belated) Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

For some odd reason, I seem to only blog when I've finished a project. The other day I was thinking "I should really blog about something. But what? I haven't fnished anything lately." Then it dawned on me, like a lightbulb going on over my head: I could blog about my unfinished projects! Brilliant! Ok, enough with the sarcasm. I've been doing some sewing lately, and finished three projects last night. I also started working on the gift I was going to give my cousin last year for Christmas. It was going well until I realized that one sleeve had been put in upside down. I'm not sure who reads this blog, so no pictures 'til after Christmas. In the meantime, here's a picture of my sewing area.

When I sew, I move the machine over. Otherwise I use the space for pinning, scrapping and reading patterns that don't make sense. The bag next to the iron contains mending and projects that I really should finish. The pillow needs to be taken apart and given a new backing. Behind the sewing machine is a two drawer storage unit that has all my ribbon, lace, trim and bias tape. I store my serger on top when it's not in use. You can't see it in the picture because it has a bag of Almost Finished Projects leaning against it. On top of the serger is a bag of fabric that needs to be cut out. The cabinets above store most of my notions, and my two fabric stash boxes are below the counter. (My Grandpa custom-made the counter for us!) to the left is my Mom's sewing space, and our stamping/scrapping space.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Here's my thankful list for this year:

• Medical Science; if not for modern medicine, my Dad would probably have died from kidney failure. Praise the Lord, he has regained some kidney function and his cancer is in full remission.
  
• My vegetable garden this year. We still have tomatoes ripening in the basement, carrots in the fridge, chopped peppers in the freezer, and jars of canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. It's so nice to have home-grown produce.
  
• My hobby of collecting seeds has become a way for us to save money in the spring. I have two types of tomato seed, bush bean seeds, and a lot of flower seeds.
  
• Living in Rochester, NY. We don't get hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, droughts, floods, or tornadoes. Just an ice storm every 5 years or so.
  
• My relatives in California didn't lose their home to the wildfires this year.
  
• I have a wonderful family who loves me no matter what my shortcomings.

May God richly bless you this Thanksgiving and through the Christmas season. Don't lose sight of the 'reason for the season'
